What aspect of your life needs improvement?
Abbie: I need a car! To get to most of the decent places in North Wales you need to have a car so I am currently trying to get some money together to buy one.
Mary: Lol, I am an awkward little gal. People who know me think I am very confident but I can be SUCH an introvert. If I am comfortable with a person I am fine, but if not, I find it SO hard to make conversation. I really need to put myself out there a bit more because that is the only way to improve.
Do you have a hidden dream that you’ve never shared with anyone?
Abbie: I want to set foot on every continent – and that also includes Antarctica!
Mary: I would LOVE to own and work on a vineyard in Italy and live in a rustic villa on the vineyard that overlooks an Italian lake. I would also love some water sports equipment to use on the lake. So random but such a dream!!!
Who is your celeb crush?
Abbie: JARED PADALECKI…. Need I say anymore?
Mary: Nick Robinson – he is the older brother in ‘Jurassic World’ and plays Ryder in ‘Melissa & Joey’. He is also in some other amazing films but those two are probably the best well known. He is such a great actor and has a winning smile.
What is an ideal first date for you?
Abbie: Something lowkey, I’m really not fussy! As long as the guy is good company, I’m good!
Mary: Like Abs, I don’t really care as long as I click with the person I am with.
What is at the top of your bucket list?
Abbie: Visit Yellowstone National Park! I have wanted to go to Yellowstone for years! And I obviously want to go before it erupts and destroys most of the United States!
Mary: I have wanted to teach English as a foreign language in Italy for a while so probably that. I really want to go travelling after uni (post-uni gap year) around New Zealand and Europe. I would love to do the classic South East Asia gap yaaaaar too.
What is something you look for in a partner?
Abbie: A good sense of humour (and someone who has a similar sense of humour to me) – I can be very sarcastic at the best of times and if a guy has a bad sense of humour…. We will not click at all!
Mary: SENSE OF HUMOURRRRR!! That is the most important thing for sure!!
What is one guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up?
Abbie: I love Lewis Capaldi – And I mean ‘love’! He is literally my Scottish spirit animal! I really enjoy watching his interviews and looking at his lil goofy face <3. If he wanted to be my husband, I would definitely say yes!
Mary: I am low-key in love with Karl Pilkington so my guilty pleasure is watching all of his shows and listening to The Ricky Gervais Show from XFM on YouTube.
If you could give your younger self any advice what would it be?
Abbie: I would tell myself to be more confident because I was quite a shy child. I would also tell myself to be more relaxed with everything! I remember taking year 7 so seriously…. I would have made sure I was more chilled back then because, let’s be honest, no one gives a damn about the first 3 years of Secondary school.
Mary: Keep up the instrument lessons!!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Abbie: Probably Canada or New Zealand! Those two places are amazing and they’re so pretty! Or maybe I’d dip into the states and live in Seattle. Somewhere more remote and less densely populated than Britain.
Mary: New Zealand because it is BEAUTIFUL and has such a varied landscape. Or Italy because it always feels like home there.
What does our brother do? Did any of your family members go to Oxford?
Our brother is at Oxford Brookes (so we’re all in Oxford lol) and he studies a business-related course. And nope, nobody in our close family attended Oxford. We are the first two people in the family to ever attend an Oxbridge uni.
What are you most looking forward to next year?
Abbie: Rocktails!!! (an Oxford University Geological Society event with q a lot of booze lol) & no longer being a fresher
Mary: I’m excited to finish my finals exams and never do another exam again!! (luckily my Master’s year doesn’t have any exams yayayay).
